Change email password in Mac Mail

When you first add an email account to Mac Mail, you supply your name, email address, and account password; Apple Mail will offer to automatically remember your email password, which spares you from having to enter it whenever it needs to send or receive messages from the server. Update email account credentials and password in Apple Mail

Follow these simple steps to update your email profile with a new password:

• If needed, launch Mac Mail; once you're in, either click on the Mail menu and choose Preferences, or press the corresponding Command+, keyboard shortcut:
  
  
• When Apple Mail opens the email program settings dialog (usually with "General" options selected), click on "Accounts" to load email addresses you have setup.
• You will find one or more email accounts listed under Accounts on the left: click on the email address whose password you want to change, and make sure that the Account Information tab is selected.
• The last text field displayed for your email account settings is Password, and shows your current account password: double-click inside that field to select the current password, and overwrite it with your new password.
  
  
• If you need to change your email password for another account, just select it on the left and follow these same steps for it.
• Now hit Esc to dismiss the Preferences dialog and hit Return (or click Save) to return to Mac Mail and change your email password.
• Apple Mail has now stored your updated email password: go to Mailbox > Get All New Mail or press Command+Shift+N on your keyboard, and it will download any new messages from the server by supplying the correct email account password this time.
